Computers have affected
the everyday lives of many Americans ever since they were created. In October of
1998, one out of three households in America reported that they owned a computer.
Singapore also reported that one out of three of their households owned a computer.
China reported only one out of one hundred households (Sacher p.29).
Computers have had both positive and negative effects, and they will have even greater
effects on us in the future. The creation of the Internet has created great advances
for computer users, and every single day computer users are experiencing the great
advantages of the Internet.
**All survey findings are based on a
representative survey sample of the United States adult population.
